* What are free Voicegrams and how are they delivered?
Voicegrams are short (15 seconds or less) messages that YOU record onto the
hard drive of this computer. The voicegrams are digitized and then routed via Amateur
Radio digital networks and/or Internet networks to the city of ultimate destination
where a volunteer will telephone the addressee and play back your recording.
As this is an experimental service that licensed Amateur Radio operators
provide to you at no charge, there are two constraints that you should be aware of:
1. The operators must have installed the necessary hardware (voice card,
microphone, and Amateur Radio or Internet hardware and software) for this to work.
2. The necessary arrangements must have been made in advance for delivery
of the voicegrams. That is, volunteers must be available from within the countries and
cities of destination to accept the messages and agree to deliver them. Therefore,
please understand that although delivery is not guaranteed, the volunteers will make
every reasonable effort to deliver your messages to their ultimate destination.
